Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for a software engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team.

Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world's structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions.

Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.

We are looking for experienced candidates with strengths in modern microservices software development. This position is responsible for creating, testing, ensuring the quality of and maintaining workload automation products and related components.

The developer will perform new feature development, complex code modification, testing, and debugging tasks, as well as provide high level analysis related to software design and development.

The person in this role is expected to act as a technical lead within a small team, advising, mentoring and coaching more junior developers and partnering with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Solution Architects etc.

Responsibilities


Work collaboratively within an Agile Team to analyze and translate business requirements and write high quality, testable code that meets the Definition of Done.

Adopt a test-first approach to software development in which, where possible, the test is developed before the code.

Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.

Create automated unit, system, and acceptance tests.

Contribute to team retrospectives; help to identify and resolve team impediments.

Actively communicate and collaborate within the team and across functional boundaries.

Improve the overall skill level of the team by mentoring / teaching / coaching.

Required Education

Bachelor's or Master's of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or global equivalent.

Required Technical and Professional Skillset

Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, REST Web Services, and Microservices architecture.

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.

Typically, 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Technical and Professional Skills
Experience with AIOps and machine learning is highly desirable.

Knowledge of OpenTelemetry is an added advantage.

Experience with Observability solutions like Dynatrace, DataDog, Instana etc. is highly desirable.

Experience in IBM z/OS and/or assembly language.

Experience developing plugins or extensions for IDEs such as VS Code.

Python, Rexx, C, API development.

Experience working on or with Automation tools.

Familiar with QA and DevOps concepts and practices such as test automation, CI/CD etc.

Experience in TCP/IP socket coding and other communication techniques.

Experience with frameworks / tools such as: React, Angular, , Jenkins, Gradle, npm, Artifactory.

Additional Job Description:
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $91,200

- $152,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
