Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) - The Jewish Hospital
Job Summary:
The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) is responsible for conducting routine tests on blood, tissues, and other body specimens and providing physicians with accurate results using various clinical laboratory equipment. They play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and the confidentiality of laboratory procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Performs analytical tests on biological specimens efficiently and accurately following laboratory protocols
- Identifies abnormal results and takes necessary actions
- Conducts quality control measures to ensure accurate patient results
- Maintains a safe work environment by monitoring equipment and following safety protocols
- Carries out other assigned duties
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry from a CLIA approved program (required)
Certifications:
- MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligibility by a recognized agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
Experience:
- Completion of an Externship program (preferred)
Skills & Abilities:
- Capable of delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to engage with colleagues and patients professionally
