This individual will be the primary contact between the Scrum teams, product development departments and business stakeholders. As a Scrum Product Owner, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our projects by representing the voice of the customer and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to prioritize features, define user stories, and maintain the product backlog. You will be responsible for guiding the development team through the product development lifecycle, ensuring that the end product meets the needs of our customers and stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between the development team and stakeholders, communicating project requirements, priorities, and progress effectively.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the product vision, strategy, features, prioritization, and roadmap.
  • Develop, own, and execute product roadmap.
  • Work in an Agile environment and continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline releases and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks.
  • Partner closely with Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) to vet, review, and finalize user stories, ensuring completeness. Take proactive ownership of this process, ensuring every aspect of the requirements are properly documented to guarantee clarity and alignment with product objectives.
  • Prioritize features and user stories based on business value, technical complexity, and customer feedback.
  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that it is up-to-date, well-elaborated, and accurately reflects the needs of the business and customers.
  • Work closely with the development team to clarify requirements, provide feedback, and make decisions on scope and priorities.
  • Participate in sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings to ensure that the team is aligned and focused on delivering value.
  • Accept or reject completed user stories based on acceptance criteria and ensure that the product meets the defined quality standards.
  • Own the product release notes and maintain the product documentation.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about project progress, risks, and dependencies, and manage their expectations effectively.
  • Take ownership of the final product, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations and strategic objectives. Effectively communicate with all levels of business stakeholders, confidently advocating for value-added features and respectfully declining non-value adding requests when necessary.
  • Continuously gather feedback from customers and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and drive product enhancements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification is preferred.
  • 8+ years professional experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Ownership in software projects in an Agile environment
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, and software development processes.
  • Robust leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve and accept product vision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with SDLC management tools such as Asana and JIRA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically, and with extreme attention to detail.
  • Experience working in the transportation industry is a plus
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
