Global Commodity Manager – Heavy Haul Logistics.
Open to considering remote work within the United States, Hybrid or Onsite at the Lake Mary, Florida Office.

SUMMARY
Mitsubishi Power Americas is a major power generation equipment and storage solutions provider for the energy industry.

Commodity management is a strategic approach to procurement that aims to optimize the value and performance of a group of related products or services.

As a commodity manager, you are responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering savings and benefits for our organization.

This individual will identify strategic suppliers in the power generation equipment space and lead cross-functional evaluations to determine the best overall supplier product fit for the Mitsubishi Power Turbine solution.

This individual will recommend and work with internal groups to implement strategic supplier agreements, partnerships, or potential investments in coordination with business approval processes.

Main commodities focus for this individual is Heavy Haul & Over-dimensional logistics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Support and implement 5-year ecosystem supplier strategy, capacity, capability aligned with BU and partners.

Develop and manage relationships with Carriers, Riggers, Railroads, 3PLs and 4PLs evaluating both current state of the art, and future technologies in early-stage development.

Execute commodity strategies for Heavy Haul and Over-dimensional Logistics.
Analyze spend and sourcing markets for services under responsibility.

Create value through relationship management, supplier excellence and development projects to reduce cost and lead time and work with other Mitsubishi group companies to find cost savings opportunities.

This includes evaluating strategies such as sole sourcing, e-sourcing events, auctions, cross commodity and cross business unit bundling, and tactics for increased competition.

Establish Master Service Agreements (MSAs) with key partners.

Apply technical knowledge to evaluate transportation methods, route planning, and equipment selection for safe and efficient cargo delivery both during Estimating and Execution phases.

Together with the Logistics execution team, assess and mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with heavy haul logistics, such as road restrictions, permitting, or equipment limitations.

Develop and implement strategic cost-out measures including alternative sourcing and vendor evaluation criteria in line with company strategy.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, project managers, and external partners to understand project requirements, timelines, and resource constraints. Provide logistics expertise and guidance to support project planning and execution.
Monitor supplier performance and implement supplier improvement plans, including adherence to guidelines and compliance initiatives.

Stay updated on market trends, industry innovations, and emerging technologies in heavy haul and project logistics that could support Mitsubishi strategic goals.

Improve cash flow contribution through payment terms and payment schedules.
Execute supplier selection based on Total Cost of Ownership criteria (incl. quality, reliability, delivery, transport costs, etc.)
Execute timely and cost-effective resolution of contractual variations with stakeholders and logistics suppliers.

Conduct business review meetings with key suppliers and partners to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify cost down and improvement opportunities, including developing and maintaining supplier KPIs.

Travel up to 25%.

Education and/or Experience:


Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university; and ten (10) years of project logistics experience preferably managing heavy haul and over-dimensional loads; or, fifteen (15) years of project logistics experience; OR, any equivalent combination developed either working for an OEM or in the logistics service provider industry.


Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and volume.

Reasoning Ability:


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Data Skills:
Ability to process large amounts of data and make decisions based on such data. Ability to support digitization efforts for the role including Dashboards, Visualization and analysis.

Software Skills:
Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Able to use V Look up formulas and pivot tables. Working knowledge with SharePoint. Able to learn and adapt to new softwareand application s.

Management & Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to negotiate.

Ability to effectively communicate job tasks, goals and projects to global sourcing staff as well as manage and delegate when necessary.

Self-motivated individual with the ability to thrive in an international, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
Technial and Commercial expertise with ocean freight modes of transport, Full Container, Ro/Ro, Breakbulk, vessel chartering. Familiar with Incoterms and Chartering Terms.
Technical and Commercial expertise in Heavy haul and over dimensional loads, incl. regulations, equipment, and methods, is required

Candidates with an extensive network of contacts within Logistics Service Providers including Carriers, Riggers, 3PLs, 4PLs, freight forwarders, etc. will be preferable.
