Description

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) is looking for a creative, organized, and collaborative individual to join the team as Manager of External Affairs. Reporting to the Director of Communications and working closely with the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and the Executive Assistant to the Secretary, the Manager of External Affairs oversees strategic event planning and execution, event logistics including briefs, talking points and remarks, external stakeholder engagement and partnership development, and occasional media interaction. The Manager provides technical advice and planning for events hosted by EOLWD or sponsored by other Secretariats, constituent groups, municipalities, or other outside entities in which EOLWD plays a role. The incumbent strategically manages and plans the department's public events to prioritize the Administration's goals and key messaging. The Manager also leads in organizing relevant briefs and talking points to prepare the Secretary for external events and internal meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

·Three to five years' experience in event planning, strategic scheduling, and stakeholder/interest group relationship management

·Exceptional media, communications, and writing skills strongly preferred

·Background in government operations

·Experience and/or ability to develop relationships across multiple sectors, including labor unions a plus

·Strong interpersonal skills

·Outstanding verbal and written skills

·Ability to respond under tight deadlines

·Ability to establish collaborative relations within state government

·Ability to effectively communicate and engender trust with local communities

·Flexibility and a willingness to listen is essential

·Knowledge of a wide range of information, including workforce development

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.

III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.

IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required experience.
