Salary Estimate - $22.74 per hour x 7.5 hours per day x 206 day contract = $35,133.30

REPORTS TO:
Superintendent of Schools

QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of three years school food service or related experience. Must have the

ability to work well with other employees, students and the public. Must work quickly and

efficiently and with minimal supervision. Must be familiar with federal and state rules and

regulations pertaining to school nutrition requirements and record keeping. Advanced computer,

telephone and math skills are required as is the ability to organize, delegate, instruct, supervise and

evaluate staff. High School diploma or equivalent, must meet current USDA professional training

standards and have a satisfactory work history as verified through professional references as well

as a satisfactory report from both the BCI & FBI.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Two hundred and six working days Eight (8) hours per day that

includes a 7 1⁄2 hour work day and a 30 minute unpaid lunch

Paid holidays are:
Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, and Memorial Day.

Lunch is provided as a means to maintain quality control.

EVALUATION:
One written evaluation per year

  • JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1.01 Prepare menus for all schools, which meet State & Federal Reimbursable Lunch requirements

1.02 Modify menus for students with special dietary needs

1.03 Submit applications for state and federal programs, government surplus foods and direct its

distribution as needed

1.04 Purchases foods, supplies and equipment for all buildings in the district, and maintains an

inventory of said items. Determines the need to replace, service or repair equipment.

1.05 Responsible for reports including but not limited to monthly financial statements, daily food

service records, monthly claims for state reimbursement, state entitlement requests and any other

records as may be necessary for the efficient operation of the food service program

1.06 Creates requisitions and reviews all invoices and purchase orders for accuracy before presenting

to the Treasurer for payment

1.07 Coordinates food service accounting procedures in cooperation with the Treasurer's office and

with auditors

1.08 Works with the Ohio Department of Education, Office of Integrated Student Supports on any

required program review

1.09 Determines and recommends prices for meals and ala carte items

1.10 Interviews and makes recommendations for hiring of all food service personnel

1.11 Coordinates, oversees, and trains cafeteria personnel

1.12 Develops and tracks training that meets USDA's annual professional standards requirements

1.13 Supervises and evaluates all kitchen managers and reviews all other staff evaluations

1.14 Maintains an approachable presence and visits all kitchens on a regular basis, checking that high

standards of health and safety are maintained.

1.15 Monitors and approves absence requests and ensures that kitchens are staffed adequately daily

with full time and substitute. Personally steps in if the staffing demands it

1.16 Confers with Superintendent regarding any personnel or financial issues

1.17 Effectively handle communications with students, parents, representatives of the Ohio

Department of Education, employees and school administration.

1.18 Handles emergencies in kitchens including but not limited to food/milk/supplies not delivered,

food borne illnesses, poor food quality, etc.

1.19 Processes and verifies all free/reduced lunch applications and direct certifications and maintains

confidentiality

1.20 Serves as chairperson on the district wellness committee

1.21 Other duties as assigned
