Qualifications:

  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Gaming License
  • 1 year of experience in poker room.
  • Working knowledge PC skills including MS Word and Excel
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to frequently move freely about the property, maintain manual dexterity to operate job related equipment, such as telephones, copiers, etc., withstand various activities such as frequent walking, sitting for long periods and withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending and kneeling without restriction.
  • Be able to work indoors and be exposed to various environmental contaminants including smoke.
  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds unassisted in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, receive direction, and provide feedback when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with guests in a congenial and polite manner.
  • Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Poker Host/Hostess is greeting patrons, maintaining accurate waiting lists for all games and exchanging cash for chips for patrons when called upon. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Miccosukee Casino and Resort, Internal Control Standards and Tribal Gaming Agency policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Calling patrons according to waiting list when seats become available.
  • Open and maintain games.
  • Promote positive customer relations at all times. Escorting customers to tables.
  • Assist in keeping the Poker Room neat and clean, thereby eliminating safety hazards.
  • Obtain food, beverage and porter services for patrons when needed.
  • Provide buy-ins to players. Makes cash and chip exchanges for patrons and dealers when needed.
  • Provide fills for dealers when needed.
  • Responsible for starting games, tracking team member hours and rotations, making table decisions and running promotions.
  • Responsible for bank fills and chips purchasing.
  • Adhere to the Miccosukee Service Expectations.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of pertinent casino data.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with guests, managers and team members.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Must be able to obtain a Tribe of Indian Gaming License
