Position Overview

The Associate Director (AD) of Business Development is accountable for leading business development efforts for Butler+, Butler's extended access programs (including online, graduate, and professional opportunities).

The AD will create strategic partnerships with businesses and workforce development organizations to build a robust pipeline of potential learners.

The overarching objective of this position is to cultivate partnerships which benefit both the university and its industry partners, driving revenue and program success while growing enrollment in workforce-aligned programs.

Responsibilities

Community Engagement and Relationship Building:

Serve as the primary point of contact for extended access programs, fostering relationships with the community and key stakeholders to promote program awareness and engagement.


Business Development Pipeline Creation:
Develop and implement a strategic business development pipeline targeting key businesses and workforce organizations aligned with the university's offerings, with a focus on generating leads and partnerships

Outreach Strategy Development:
Design and execute outreach strategies to engage potential partners and stakeholders, including initiating conversations and identifying opportunities for collaboration

Lead Management and Handoff:
Manage the initial stages of engagement with prospective partners, including qualifying leads and facilitating handoffs to the Butler+ team for further engagement and conversion

Performance Measurement and Reporting:
Utilize metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track pipeline development, lead generation, and conversion rates, providing regular reports on progress and outcomes to inform strategic decision-making

Position Impact:
Enhance the division and organization's reputation for strategy and innovation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring innovative opportunities to add value to organization accomplishments

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
3-5 years of considerable experience developing and leading high-growth strategies, particularly in strategic professional partnerships, program engagement, and achieving business development targets
Demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing strategic partnerships with businesses, workforce development organizations, or similar entities, alongside sales or business development roles, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets and generating revenue
Knowledge of trends in non-credit and workforce-aligned programs and understanding of the needs and challenges faced by adult learners and working professionals
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to inform strategic initiatives and optimize outcomes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders and audiences
Experience in leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Demonstrated commitment to results and accountability, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a focus on achieving measurable outcomes aligned with organizational objectives
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree and/or certifications in a related field of study
Experience with growth and business development within the Indianapolis or Indiana markets
Experience with the implementation of written and visual content for websites, social media channels, blogs, newsletters, and press releases to promote program growth
Experience in working collaboratively and proactively in higher education with change management methods and tools
Experience with Slate, Salesforce CRM, TABLEAU, Business Intelligence (BI) and analytical reporting and dynamic dashboards
Experience in the successful management of teams and professional staff
