Compensation: $17.20 per hour + $4.57 per hour in Health & Welfare (distributed to Medical Insurance or 401a account)

Excelsior Defense is a private and veteran-owned Security Guard Agency based in St. Petersburg, Florida. With over 25 years of experience, we employ over 400 guards nationwide and are a top leader in providing security services. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of our clients through professionalism and excellence.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Unarmed Security Guard to join our team at Sarasota National Cemetery. The successful candidate will have a valid Class D Security Guard license with the State of Florida and will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform roving patrols of the entire property every hour while stationed in the assigned Excelsior Defense company vehicle.
  • Conduct checks of Patriot Plaza, maintenance building, and the Information Center every hour.
  • Ensure all doors and gates are locked and secured after 1700 hours.
  • Maintain control of the property, perform escorts when needed, inspect all assets, and show visible presence.
  • Prevent the introduction or use of prohibited items such as weapons, flammable liquids, explosives, and drugs.
  • Maintain clear communication with Sarasota National Cemetery's management and Excelsior's management team using the assigned Excelsior site cell phone.
  • Greet and assist visitors respectfully and professionally.
  • Handle disturbances and emergencies professionally, maintaining safety and security at all times.
  • Report suspicious activities and security breaches to the Site Supervisor and document incidents accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class D Security Guard license with the State of Florida.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check upon offer of employment.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Previous security experience is preferred but not required.

Benefits:
