SUMMARY:

This position will assist in performing a variety of technical and professional job responsibilities related to managing consistent food safety and quality programs at assigned company contracted facilities that manufacture food products for Tyson Foods.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assessing Contract Manufacturer suitability and readiness for understanding and manufacturing to Tyson requirements to ensure consistent conformance to specifications, regulatory requirements, and food safety guidelines.
  • Include analyzing and resolving food safety and or quality issues and making decisions to ship or hold product.
  • Innovation and project support issuing specification deviations as appropriate.
  • Conducting routine food safety and quality audits of assigned facilities.
  • Reviewing and ensuring compliance of all applicable government food regulations.
This position holder will serve as a food safety regulatory and quality resource for Contract Manufacturing team.

  • This requires a working knowledge of diverse plant processes and regulatory requirements as well as the development of working relationships with the Business Unit, various Shared Services, R D, Strategic Sourcing, etc. and the Contract Manufacturing team.
  • Oversight of the budget as it relates to controllable costs.
  • Perform other duties or special assignments as requested by the Sr Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 5 plus years' experience; significant experience in food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance; management experience in the manufacture of high-risk foods and their processes preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in the following Microsoft products: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of various Tyson Business Computer Systems helpful.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required both written and verbal; strong presentation skills required. Position will be responsible for effective verbal and written communication to plant and corporate team members and organization and structure of technical information and reports. Position will present statistical and graphical information to team members within the corporate operations and quality assurance groups.
  • Special Skills: Must have good problem identification, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Travel: 24 or more domestic trips per year.
