Job Description

A Day In the Life:

Principle Cloud engineer role is responsible to create strategic Cloud Platforms with empowered teams and adaptive mindsets. You will implement leading cloud native and multi-cloud platforms implementing Infrastructure-as-Code, Kubernetes, and Zero Trust architecture. You'll apply Site Reliability Engineering to create resilient and scalable platforms. You'll support client delivery teams across Hertz Cloud environments. You'll keep pace with leading Cloud, DevSecOps, Containerization, Kubernetes and Cloud Engineering skills as you further specialize.

What will you do
  • You will take part in the entire cycle of Cloud Platform engineering, CloudOps and development from architecture, hands-on implementation, documentation and support
  • You will design and engineer cloud platforms using Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps, and providing support for application teams
  • You will be responsible for infrastructure provisioning, troubleshooting networking issues with application team, designing network in accordance to best practices for AWS and automating recurring activities.
  • Establishing DR between datacenter and AWS Cloud.
  • Establish an IaC framework using terraform for AWS. Deploy and manage infrastructure in AWS. Automate manual tasks using python, ansible etc,.
  • Adopt development standards that closely align the Solutions Architecture team with our Engineering team.
  • Architect and migrate applications from datacenters to AWS Cloud.
  • Support, partner, and collaborate with the Hertz Security team.
  • Collaborating with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions.
  • Must be a detail oriented and highly organized individual, follow best practices for network engineering and strive for strategic vision in the design, planning and implementation of network services
  • Proficient hands on experience and understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols including IP subnetting
  • Demonstrated expertise with switching and routing protocols such as MPLS, BGP, and OSPF
  • Advanced knowledge of network monitoring and performance tools for networks, including for cloud network infrastructure
  • Experience specific to automation for cloud networking build & configuration in AWS is the primary skill set we are looking for more of:
  • VPC multi-tier, multi-az public/private subnetting, NLB/ALBs, Egress-only IGW, Palo Alto VM firewalls with threat prevention, Security Groups, Direct Connect, VPN, IPv6
  • Experience in provisioning infrastructure using cloudformation / Terraform, managing and maintaining the network components using automation tools.
  • Good working knowledge of networking protocols and constructs such as TCP, UDP, IP, VLAN, VRF, BGP, OSPF
  • Practical experience related to LAN, WAN, and VPN connectivity in a hybrid-cloud data center environment would be tremendously helpful in this role
  • Work as a cross-functional team member to support multiple work steams and products.
  • A results-oriented team player who will work towards meeting team commitments and has the ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer/Network Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years as a data network specialist that includes two to three recent years of experience in AWS in a medium to large enterprise network; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with multiple business departments.
  • Experience designing cloud architectures with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation
  • Working Experience on designing and implementing full stack/Microservice infrastructure using IaC best practices
  • Understanding of secure software development methodologies and Code First mindset
  • Experience
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Scripting, CloudFormation, Terraform, python, and or similar configuration languages (Ansible, Chef, etc.)
  • Experience in software development, systems engineering, or integration and test experience with mission systems on tactical platforms
  • Strong Working knowledge of the CI/CD process including debugging, test, and integration of software tools.
  • Strong communication skills and a self-starter that can thrive in a distributed remote work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially regarding taking requirements from application owners, developers and consumers of the cloud network and translating them into networking specifications for implementation and into non-technical verbiage for summary to leadership
We expect the starting salary to be around $150,000 to $200,000 with annual bonus and profit sharing eligibility. The actual salary will be determined based on years of relevant work experience. This posting will remain open until its filled.
