POSITION SUMMARY:


Responsible for emergency preparedness and management for the district and general oversight of all policies, procedures, networks, staff, and contracts related to district security.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or at least 8 years of law enforcement or relevant emergency management experience.
General knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to school safety.
CLEET certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate security for the district.

Work in cooperation with the Superintendent's Cabinet, site administrators, and other leaders in the district to accomplish all goals related to safety and security.

Work directly with law enforcement and other agencies to develop short- and long-range plans to attain maximum safety and security in the district and at out-of-district events.

Ensure that the district-wide security alarm systems and security camera systems are operational and updated to the ever-changing needs of the district.

Provide general oversight of the School Resource Officers (SROs) and contracted security officers used during the school day at school sites and after hours at school events.

Provide training and assistance to district staff in matters of safety and security.

Receive all reports of school crime from site-based administrators and advise appropriate staff on ways to reducing the risk of such activity.

Maintain close relationships with local, county, and state police, fire, and EOC officials.
Oversee purchasing of security equipment and contracts for any security-related services.
Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

REASONING ABILITY:


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.
