Job Summary

Advises new, continuing, and prospective students on admissions, placement testing, courses, program requirements, registration procedures, financial aid assistance, veteran affairs, and other student services support. Correspondence on behalf of the Department-Public Relations. Evaluates incoming transcripts; responds to nursing students requests for official and unofficial transcripts; verifies eligibility to submit for various nursing programs. Responsible for file/record maintenance and coordination between programs.

Essential Functions

30% - Advises new, continuing, and prospective students on admissions, placement testing, courses, program requirements, registration procedures, financial aid assistance, veteran affairs, and other student services support. Advise on degree and graduation requirements for the various nursing programs. Provide group sessions on nursing program. Provide information sessions on the new university partnership programs (CEP). Provides 1:1 advising and group sessions on various nursing program. Provides guidance to students on goal setting, decision making and certificate options, transfer pathways, course selection, registration, academic progress and satisfactory progress toward certificate/degree using PeopleSoft, Guided Pathways to Success (GPS) tools and other technology. Provides ongoing, proactive follow up to ensure student learning and progress outcomes are met. Monitors student academic progress through a variety of reporting tools. Participates in special sessions that verifies eligibility for nursing students to apply to new university partnership. Gives advice on university transfer requirements and admission processes upper degree programs at different University campuses. Assists in the development of promotional and informational materials to use in nursing advisement, including validation of current information on department website. Provides registration, email, and telephone assistance to students. Participates in new student orientation.

25% - Correspondence on behalf of the Department-Public Relations. As Primary liaison connects students with academic and personal resources including tutoring, counseling, and career Services. Acts as college/department liaison to current and prospective students, faculty, staff and external groups on issues related to academic advising and success. Participates in student recruitment activities: Open house etc.

25% -Coordination: Contributes to collection of statistical data relating to Student Services within the nursing department. Provides and interprets College and MCCCD policies and procedures related to admissions, curriculum, advising, student success and degree completion. Overall student services functions. Coordinates projects related to student learning, success, and retention. Researched program opportunities, industry standard, trends, best practices and emerging technologies. Maintains collaboration with academic divisions of College & MaricopaNursing within the area of responsibility. Help to create, implement, and anticipate guidelines and protocols for new University Partnership nursing programs, such as Concurrent Enrollment Programs (CEP). Implements and evaluates processes and procedures for College/District. Reviews and make recommendations for program improvements with Nursing District office.Creates advising materials and power points for various program with the nursing department.

15% - Admissions/Records-Nursing Department:Evaluates incoming transcripts; responds to nursing students requests for official and unofficial transcripts; verifies eligibility to submit for various nursing programs. Inputs, edits and monitors variety of data related to the Nursing department; District Nursing Database, Nurse tracking database. Make changes to student records in District Nursing Database when program requirements change. Process nursing program admission applications. Coordinates special admissions requirement for new Nursing programs and partnerships. Coordinates with District (Nursing) as necessary for data processing and other on-line computer functions. Corresponds with other Colleges concerning evaluation of college credit, course content and transcripts.

5% - File/Record Maintenance: Maintains nursing applications for MaricopaNursing. Maintains Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) applications. Maintains transcripts for new, continuing nursing students

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs

OR

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs

OR

High School Diploma or GED and six years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs

Desired Qualifications

A.Masters Degree in Education, Leadership, Management, Counseling, Communications or any liberal arts/sciences/nursing/healthcare or related discipline OR a Certification in Academic Advising.

B. Four (4) or more years of experience providing academic or career advising in a college or university setting.

C. Experience applying academic or career advising approaches, theories and competencies such as FYE and guided pathways.

D.One (1) or more years evaluating transcripts

E.One (1) or more years of experience developing and delivering presentations in person and virtually

F.Experience in advising undergraduate health care profession students
