At MacAllister Machinery, we are currently looking for a Shop Technician Assistant to join our team. As the Shop Technician Assistant, you will be supporting the Shop Technician in carrying out mechanical services on new and used equipment in the shop, in charge of maintaining company-provided tools and equipment, and ensuring strict safety procedures are followed.

Responsibilities
  • Assists Shop Technician in performing mechanical services on new and used equipment in the shop.
  • Responsible for maintaining company issued tools, and equipment.
  • Completes all required reporting for service time accurately and efficiently; including writing service reports, correctly assigning time to each job, and monitoring parts charged and returned.
  • Maintains customer satisfaction by understanding customer requirements and deadlines, striving to complete scheduled repairs and service safely, promptly, and precisely.
  • Adheres to strict safety protocols; utilizing appropriate PPE as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired through a high school education or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of mechanical experience is desirable.
  • Understanding of work area metrics, taking accountability for enhancing metrics and outcomes. Recognizes the importance of 6 Sigma in the workplace and contributes when required. Shows initiative, displaying a proactive approach to daily tasks and actively suggesting enhancements to work processes.
  • Interprets and implements policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Responds to customer inquiries promptly, prioritizing customers as the utmost concern. Takes personal ownership with customers, honoring commitments, and fulfilling requests.
  • Demonstrates professionalism with internal and external customers, presenting oneself well and offering friendly, polite treatment to colleagues, subordinates, and clients.
  • Familiarity with mechanical repair techniques and procedures.
  • Able to use industry-specific PC and mainframe software with a fundamental knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and database systems like DBSI.
  • Capable of working overtime and on weekends.
