What you will do:


This position will develop and implement the engineering and maintenance strategies to improve quality, production and reduce downtime and cost for the plant.

You will manage the engineering team and oversee maintenance functions in the battery components manufacturing processes covering plastic injection molding processes, assembly and lead grid manufacturing.

This position is responsible for the managing, planning and execution of engineering projects, capital projects, as well as technical support for products and applications.

The manufacturing engineers and maintenance technicians are responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operations of all the equipment utilized in the manufacturing process.

This includes engineered improvements, expansion activities, improving machine efficiency, reducing equipment downtime, scrap and ensuring a quality product. The Engineering Manager operates with minimum direction. This position will directly manage 6 manufacturing engineers, tool room/tool crib supervisor, and oversee maintenance.

How you will do it:
Support and develop department or maintenance projects / activities with good engineering direction. Take part or facilitate the team Lean strategies and methodologies and/or Six Sigma activities.

Develop, support, cost estimate, deliver and document all engineering changes.

Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems. Implement interim processes as required to correct or contain all non-conformance.

Direct and provide hands on manufacturing engineering support to operations.

Champion training of manufacturing engineering personnel on new processes.


Review product and process designs for compliance and safety, adherence to company standards, customer contract requirements and to ensure timely completion.

Identify barriers to project success and lead efforts to eliminate the barriers.

Implement process changes on existing equipment, and direct the development and installation of production expansion equipment.


Assist corporate and plant level Safety, Environmental, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure that manufacturing assembly processes and assembly equipment meet all Safety, Environmental, and Quality and Engineering requirements.

Ensure adequate training for existing and new employees on PLC troubleshooting and making program modifications utilizing PLC software.

Position will require flexibility to support a 24/7 operation.

Performs any other duties as assigned.

What we look for

Must possess a working technical knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and equipment preferably with plastic injection molding, robotics, and assembly.

BSEE/BSME or related engineering bachelor level degree from accredited college or university is required.

8 or more years' experience in manufacturing environment or a related role.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in an engineering leadership role within a manufacturing environment

Working knowledge and experience w/ PLC programming.

Good mechanical / technical skills.

Great leadership skills

Ability to prioritize, manage projects and build cohesive teams in order to meet targets, objectives and service operations.

Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
