The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Nurse I, Level III is a key member of the primary care and occupational health services within the Ambulatory Care Service. Collaborating with various teams and professionals, this role involves ensuring the health and safety of employees at VASNHCS.
Responsibilities:- Coordinate and participate in medical screening, surveillance, and infection control programs.
- Manage employees injured on the job and work on workers' compensation case management.
- Conduct annual physical exams for specific groups as mandated.
- Provide leadership in operational coordination, strategic planning, and quality improvement.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration and day-to-day operations of Occupational Health.
- Order and furnish medications following standardized procedures.
- Collaborate with the occupational health and safety team on health and safety assessments.
- Participate in various health programs such as tuberculosis screening, influenza vaccines, and smoking cessation programs.
- Oversee programs like Ergonomics, Laser Safety, and Respiratory Fit Medical Clearances.
- Conduct examinations for injured employees, blood-borne pathogens management, and more.
- U.S. Citizenship required for eligibility.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited body.
- Current, full, and active board certification in a clinical specialty.
Preferred Experience and Certifications:
- Prescriptive Privileges with DEA Licensure.
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) provider card.
- At least one year of professional experience as a Registered Nurse Practitioner.
This position demands visual acuity, clear speech, manual dexterity, and adaptability to stressful situations. Long periods of standing, walking, and other physical activities may be required. The nurse also needs to complete annual health screenings.
Education Note:Only degrees recognized by accreditation bodies may be considered for nursing positions.
