Structures Mechanic

Aerotek's client operates the biggest commercial aviation MRO (maintenance/repair/overhaul) facility in the Northwest.

They specialize in repairing and overhauling components such as flaps, leading edges, slats, cowlings, and inlets.

The position involves working in the Sheetmetal/Structures repair section, adjacent to other shops like hydraulics, machine shop, and avionics, among others. The pay ranges from $28 to $30 per hour.

A Boeing badge is not mandatory.

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with 5 shifts of 10 hours each starting at 0500 and ending at 1530+. Technicians handle structural pieces and assemblies that require overhauling.

Tasks include drilling out and replacing fasteners, T-chord and acoustic panel repairs, metal trimming, and using various tools like die grinders and DA sanders.

No painting is involved. The job entails using drills, rivet guns, hi-lok pliers, and other tools to overhaul cowlings and ensure the timely production of units.

The role focuses on removing and replacing fasteners and parts with high precision, especially during fastener drilling to avoid oversized holes. The initial week includes orientation and safety training before transitioning to the regular schedule at the repair shop.

While the job primarily involves repair and overhaul, it also emphasizes a production-oriented environment to meet schedules effectively.

  • Expect to work approximately 50 hours per week.

Additional Skills & Qualifications: Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in precision metal drilling and forming, and possess essential hand tools like socket sets, hi-lok pliers, and bucking bars.

Individuals from automotive, marine/navy backgrounds (e.g., hull technicians) or metal machining shops may be suitable for the role. Required tools include basic hand tools and hi-lok pliers, while preferred tools consist of drills, die grinders, rivet guns, and hammers.

Blind fastener tools will be provided.
