Objectives of this Role

  • Support the teacher in developing of lesson plans, providing individual attention to children(s) during individual and small group lessons
  • Cultivate a positive, safe, loving and learning atmosphere by maintaining a fun and interactive classroom that is clean, organized, developmentally appropriate and engaging
  • Ensure all interactions, and activities are conducted in a manner that is sensitive to, and shows respect for, cultural and ethnic diversity
  • Safely supervise students and follow all professional guidelines and implement all school policies and procedures with the guidance of the classroom teacher

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Assist the teacher in organizing the learning environment, preparing and maintaining materials and resources, and distribution/collection of homework
  • Track attendance, observe student performance, contribute to reports.
  • Lead smallgroup instruction and discussion, providing support, as needed to children.
  • Is present and engaged during class sessions.
  • Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, writing, setting up equipment, and photocopying
  • Participate in meetings and events, and use all communication channels effectively to support the smooth running of the education team

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience working with children
  • Effective communication skills; oral, written, and visual
  • Understanding of childhood development
  • Comfortable interacting with children, guardians, parents and staff
  • Experience developing lesson plans
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to changes in a dynamic environment
  • At Least 2 years experience preferred

$ $13.00 per hour
