We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join a client of ours located in Scottsdale, AZ. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting and serve as a key accounting resource for the business analyst team. This position is a hybrid role and will start off on a contract or consultant basis.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all transactions are meticulously recorded in accordance with US GAAP
  • Become the go-to expert for the business analyst team, handling all accounting and reporting matters critical to their success
  • Foster strong relationships across departments by collaborating effectively with finance and non-finance teams to support overall company goals
  • Oversee daily general ledger activities, including preparing and posting journal entries with meticulous attention to detail and maintaining supporting documentation
  • Take ownership of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and implementing solutions to ensure timely and accurate resolutions
  • Champion the development and upkeep of accounting policies and procedures aligned with US GAAP, including revenue recognition, expense recognition and accounting estimates
  • Lead the charge during compliance audits and annual financial audits with banking institutions and external auditors
Senior Accountant Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or another business related field is required
  • 3+ years of experience in general accounting or auditing is essential
  • Supervisory or oversight experience (1-2 years preferred) demonstrating your leadership potential
  • Familiarity with JD Edwards is a plus, with SAP experience being an extra advantage
  • A proven track record of implementing change management initiatives, process improvements and ERP system implementations/upgrades is highly desirable
  • You're an Excel wizard with the ability to organize and analyze large data sets
  • Experience in projects/construction accounting is a significant asset
  • Prior experience in public accounting is a plus
