Dignity Health Medical Group, Arizona is seeking a dynamic, clinical leader to help develop and grow our Anesthesia service line in Central Phoenix.

This individual will be instrumental in building, improving and maintaining the Anesthesia service line, to implement standards for patient care that comply with all laws, regulations and deliver a superior patient experience.

This leader will ensure the department meets current needs and addresses/identifies future needs by introducing new technology, services and procedures as well as established quality of care standards.

Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility and collaborative cross functional teams.


The Executive Director will be primarily accountable for the overall success of the Department of Anesthesia by improving the quality of clinical care, education and scholarship.

This individual will also be responsible for collaborating with Administration to strategically plan the future growth and development of the Department, the Healthcare Service Lines within the Department, and the future implementation of educational programs.

Additionally, this individual will serve as the liaison for quality and cost effective initiatives between the Physician Enterprise and Dignity Health Arizona.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as senior member of Physician Enterprise;
Works with administration to develop and implement the department budget and operating policies;
Partners with administration to develop and implement the departmental strategic plan and develop inter-departmental service lines in collaboration with Department Chairs;
Fosters a collaborative model of practice to promote the growth and success of the Group as a whole;
Works with the Providers and the Chief Medical Officer to develop utilization benchmarks and quality metrics for the department; reviews and revises benchmarks on a regular basis based on national metrics;
Works with the Manager and staff in the development and enhancement of practice guidelines;
Establishes "coaching" or "mentoring" relationships with their faculty, paying special attention to members who are new or in need of assistance to plan and enhance their professional growth;
Regularly establishes universal objectives and goals for faculty members and does a yearly evaluation based on those goals;
Clinically active physician who models the practice of evidence-based medicine and superior patient experience skills;
Strives to be a servant leader who exemplifies mission-appropriate excellence and professional growth of the members of the department and promote a culture which supports the mission statement of Dignity Health;

Perform such other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Hospital President, the Board of Directors, Community Board, or the President, COO or CMO of the Medical Group.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Has proven clinical, communication and leadership skills;
Is entrepreneurial in spirit. Will direct and supervise the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies, programs, procedures and budgets for all aspects of clinical care, medical education and research for the service line;
Has the analytic ability necessary to resolve extremely complex short and long term problems requiring the application of both clinical and management principles;
Has the ability to promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships; proficiency in team building, conflict resolution, and group interaction.
Has the proven ability to manage and work proactively with large diverse groups of individuals.
Is experienced in process improvement, medical informatics, business and medicine, or healthcare administration.
Will collaborate with leadership to design, develop, implement and execute the rollout of the service line;
Background in academics preferred for potential development of GME/UME;
Is dedicated to delivering high quality, compassionate care;
Is a member of good standing of the medical staff of the hospital;
Demonstrates a work history of positive collegial relations with colleagues, support staff, hospital-based providers, administrators and patients;
Demonstrates advanced competency in their specialty;

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
MD Degree
Completed ACGME Residency training with current ABA Board Certification

Experience in out-of-OR intervention management is critical with willingness to be "hands on"
Proven physician leadership experience

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:


This position currently reports to the System Senior VP, Physician Enterprise of Dignity Health Medical Group Southwest Division for medical group activities.

As a member of the medical staff at St.

Joseph's Hospital, the physician will also collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer of the Hospital for all activities related to medical staff services.
