Your Ideal Comprehensive Buyer Position.

We are excited to offer a great opportunity for a proficient Senior Buyer to join our team in Fremont, California. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of procurement and handling of assigned commodities. This role will directly report to the Purchasing Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, manage, and oversee purchase orders, ensuring effective communication regarding any changes or updates on delivery schedules.
  • Procure for MRP, NPI, and requisition requests.
  • Independently manage and prioritize workload on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Initiate the setup process for new vendors, including obtaining vendor certifications and evaluating supplier qualifications.
  • Lead negotiations for commodities to secure cost-effectiveness while mitigating risks.
  • Establish fair pricing based on historical purchases and obtaining multiple quotes.
  • Continuously manage suppliers to ensure compliance with contract terms and performance standards.
  • Develop strong relationships with vendors to drive Elma's success.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve supplier-related business challenges.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Engineering and Sales departments.
  • Resolve any non-conformance issues related to assigned commodities with the vendor.
  • Efficiently manage and reduce obsolescence.
  • Process orders for outplant processes/services, handling schedules, transportation, and product flow.
  • Conduct inventory analysis for excess and obsolete materials.
  • Adhere to procedures outlined in Elma's quality manual.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualities:

  • Proficient in PC operations with experience in MS Office Suite, MRP/ERP systems, and database tools.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiation skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, ensuring sound decisions on business and financial matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for fostering relationships with vendors, internal clients, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with a focus on management, coworkers, clients, and suppliers.

Preferred Education/Certifications:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in business or possess equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 8 years of experience in production buying in the electronic or high-tech manufacturing sector, with a preference for supplier development expertise.
