POSTION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to supervise, provide and coordinate nursing care in compliance with facility policies and procedures and to assess residents' care needs and take appropriate action.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; currently licensed in the State of current employment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Prior experience in the long term care setting desired with supervisory experience.

  • Direct, Supervise and evaluate all direct resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary.
  • Conduct resident rounds daily, reporting problems to DON and initiating corrective action.
  • Assume Follow established standards of nursing practices and implement facility policies and procedures.
  • Identify resident problems and emergency situation and initiate emergency care and life saving measures in the absence of a physician.
  • Follow staffing guidelines and make nursing assignment according to qualification of staff and characteristics of the resident population.
  • Listen to resident, family or physician concerns and initiate corrective action and/or report concerns to DON.
  • Supervise the application and removal of all restraints and devices used to position and enable resident to function as independently as possible.
  • Check meal trays and nourishment to ensure proper diet is served and resident are assisted as necessary.
  • Notify physician when necessary of changes in residents conditions weight medication errors medication not available abnormal laboratory/x-ray results and any other unusual observation.
  • Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
  • Obtain continuing education required to maintain licensure.
  • Completes employee evaluations timely-within 30/day of scheduled date due.
  • Provides leadership by planning, developing, and organizing all, and by implementing, evaluating, and directing the activities of the Nursing Services Staff.
  • Supervise response to resident's call for assistance.
  • Follow Facility discharge/transfer procedure and coordinate discharge/transfer with other departments, physicians and ancillary service providers.
  • Follow staffing guidelines and make nursing assignment according to qualification of staff and characteristics of the resident population.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Takes steps necessary to produce excellent work in any task or job that is assigned.
