Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist

Location: Lowell, Massachusetts

Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Type: Full-Time

Overview: Join the Lowell Public Schools as a Speech-Language Pathologist and play a crucial role in supporting the communication needs of our diverse student population. The SLP will provide comprehensive speech and language services to students, enhancing their academic and social success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals for students with speech and language needs.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student progress and integration into the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress reports.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of IEP goals and objectives.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in speech-language pathology.
  • Provide training and support to school staff on speech and language development.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Massachusetts state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Certification from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Knowledge of IDEA and state and federal regulations governing special education.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • Massachusetts State License: Must hold and maintain a valid license to practice speech-language pathology in Massachusetts.
  • ASHA Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification: Certification for Speech-Language Pathologists, meeting all state educational and examination requirements.
