Position Description
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Department of Neurology seeks an outstanding investigator at the Associate or Full Professor level to lead a new position as Wagner Professorship in Parkinson’s Research. This leadership position will be under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Segal, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology, and Director of the Neuroscience Research Institute as well as Drs. Ariane Park and Pietro Manzonni, Co-Division Directors of Parkinson’s disease.
The ideal candidate will be a national leader in Parkinson’s research.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have:
- Strong faculty academic experience, with a track record of extramural funding and mentorship;
- Strong track record in translational research;
- Demonstrated leadership skills in building innovative programs as well as recruiting and retaining faculty;
- Prior demonstrated commitment to recruitment, development, and retention of women, underserved minorities, and disability status;
- An active, investigator initiated research program supported by extramural grants.
The Wagner Professorship in Parkinson’s Research will have the opportunity to build a world class team of investigators, with complementary interests and skills, dedicated to increasing our understanding of different aspects of Parkinson’s Disease, with a potential to focus on neurogenetics and biomarkers.

Department Overview:
The Department of Neurology at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) consists of 15 specialized divisions, 63 physicians, 5 psychologists, 12 dedicated research faculty, 24 residents, and 14 fellows. We deliver unparalleled subspecialty care across all neurology disciplines, with services spanning 7 state-of-the-art ambulatory facilities and 3 hospitals. The department operates 27 groundbreaking multidisciplinary and personalized clinics, 3 comprehensive inpatient consultation services, an 18-bed neurocritical care unit, a 30-bed stroke ward, and an expanding teleneurology service partnering with 7 regional hospitals. Our telestroke network is among the largest in the nation, encompassing 32 affiliated hospitals. With over $15.5 million in annual research funding, OSU Neurology is at the forefront of discovering new biomarkers and therapeutic targets for neurological disorders. Our fundamental research portfolio focuses on neurogenetics, neuroimmunology and neuroregenerative medicine. Our pioneering Division of Neurology Health Services Research and Center for the Neurobiology of Aging and Resilience are trailblazers in the field. This year alone, our faculty conducted over 320 clinical trials and studies, supported by a cutting-edge biorepository and brain bank. We're equally committed to education, offering 10 prestigious clinical fellowships and international training opportunities through the OSU Global Neurology Initiative, with partner programs in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
