BlueHalo is seeking a highly talented Radar Sustainment Engineer to join our dynamic team This role requires a strong foundation in critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively communicate—both verbally and in writing—with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Prime Contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Develop and implement sustainment plans and procedures for terminal and forward-based AN/TPY-2 radar systems.
  •  Provide insights during weekly Cross Product Team (CPT), Integrated Product Team (IPT), and Health and Status meetings with Raytheon (prime contractor), Army Capability Manager, and MDA THAAD project office to address engineering challenges.
  •  Analyze maintenance proposals for AN/TPY-2 radars and make recommendations to leadership on adjustments.
  •  Review Quarterly Maintenance Period (QMP) plans and provide leadership recommendations for approval.
  •  Verify and validate change actions against specifications, performance measures, and MDA Mission Assurance Provision requirements.
  •  Travel to radar sites to assist with and implement QMP actions.
  •  Serve as the MDA representative on-site, analyzing and addressing issues arising during QMP actions.
  •  Travel to radar sites to support new radar hardware development and sell-off.
  •  Offer analyses and guidance to leadership on the acquisition of new radar hardware.
  •  Participate in the 24/7 Engineer On-Call rotation, providing immediate engineering support for radar downtimes and overseeing hardware and software testing.
  •  Provide technical support for Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and Design Reviews (PDR, CDR, FDR).
  •  Travel up to 40% to prime contractor facilities, test ranges, and radar sites.

Required:

  •  7+ years of experience in missile defense-related or similarly complex, large DoD programs/projects.
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).
  •  Active Secret Clearance.
  •  In-depth understanding of phased array radar theory, function, and design.

 Preferred:

  •  Proven experience in managing system sustainment efforts.
  •  Familiarity with major components (Software and Hardware) of the AN/TPY-2 Radar.
  •  Experience deploying operational assets.
  •  Ability to interpret mechanical hardware drawings and implement quality control measures.
  •  Demonstrated independence and rigor in resolving engineering problems in a fast-paced environment.
  •  Background in Program Management.
  •  Proficiency with systems engineering “V” processes.
  •  Strong self-management skills and ability to work effectively within a team structure.
  •  Skill in decomposing complex challenges into actionable steps.
  •  Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries.
  •  Comfortable presenting complex information to leaders at various levels.
  •  Proficiency with Microsoft Office® applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  •  Familiarity with MDA Systems Engineering processes and MDA organizational structure.
  •  Working knowledge of Missile Defense System (MDS) architecture and concepts.
