Position Summary

Instruct students in either ESL, ABE, ASE, HSE in Spanish, Bridge, ICAPS or Citizenship

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Teach courses as assigned by the College Develop syllabus using MCC syllabus template Cover all material in depth and scope as described in the course syllabusIncorporate the ABE/ASE and ESL Content Standards into instructionMaintain and submit accurate student and course-related paperwork and data needed for College and grant purposes in a timely fashionDocument and report attendance daily and maintain and submit accurate attendance records weeklyActively work to maintain student retentionSubmit grade reports electronically by the required dateUtilize a variety of teaching styles in order to satisfy the different learning styles of studentsResponsible for implementing current ESL, HSE (Reading and Math), Bridge and ICAPS curriculaComply with grant requirements:
  • Create and submit a professional development plan annually and provide verification of completion
  • Participate in (12) twelve hours of approved, required professional development each fiscal year
  • Complete all required professional development trainings
Conduct regular student assessments Utilize computer-based instruction and databases when necessary Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution (e.g., English, TESOL, linguistics, mathematics, reading)One year teaching or training experience preferably with adult learnersFamiliarity with computer technology and Microsoft Office including OutlookCommitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles
