Job Description
In accordance with Faculty Rule 3335-5-452, the responsibilities of the Secretary of the University Senate are to: Serve as a resource person for members of the university community on matters relating to university governance and to activities of the university senate; Promote active, effective participation in university governance by members of the constituencies of the university senate; Coordinate the responsibilities of the office of the university senate as described in rule 3335-19-09 of the Administrative Code; Serve as a voting member of the program committee and the rules Committee and a non-voting member of the steering committee of the university senate; Serve as a resource person for university and senate committees; Issue notification of senate meetings, agendas and reports of senate actions in accordance with rule 3335-19-11 of the Administrative Code; Keep the records of the meetings of the university senate and furnish to the president for report to the board of trustees all matters passed by the university senate requiring board of trustees approval or action; the term of the Secretary of the University Senate is three years during which time he or she is reassigned to the office of the University Senate for a minimum of fifty per cent time.

Master's Level Degree

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. preferred. Rank of full professor with an excellent record of research, teaching, and service. Experience in shared governance leadership, for exp. a chair-ship of Faculty Council or the University Senate Steering Committee and/or serving as Secretary of the Faculty and preferably within the last ten years. Extensive knowledge of the University Rules. Two or more years of experience on the Council on Academic Affairs, the Rules Committee, and/or the Committee on Academic Freedom and Responsibility. Experience and interest in working with and coordinating the activities of diverse committees or groups. A demonstrated ability to interact effectively with central administration and all the Senate's constituent bodies and committees
