About Crown Family Philanthropies
Crown Family Philanthropies (CFP or the Foundation) is the philanthropic division of Henry Crown and Company (see below) and supports the Crown Family's philanthropic and grantmaking endeavors. In 2009, after more than 60 years of family grantmaking under the name Arie and Ida Crown Memorial, CFP was developed to represent an array of family grantmaking practices. Today, the legacy of Arie and Ida Crown lives on in the work continued by their descendants, who remain dedicated to the Jewish tradition of tikun olam, or "repairing the world." Supported by a professional staff of experts, CFP is led by more than 40 family members across multiple generations who come together to set strategy and make grantmaking decisions.

About the Gun Violence Prevention Program
Crown Family Philanthropies envisions a Chicago where gun violence is drastically reduced so that residents can live, work, and go to school safely in their communities.

The Gun Violence Prevention Program, one of CFP's six main program priorities, makes grants in the areas of: a) providing direct services through community violence intervention, b) effectively leveraging existing gun policies, c) proactively identifying new systems-level opportunities to reduce the availability of illegal guns, and d) investing in programs that improve community-police relations.

CFP's Gun Violence Prevention team also participates in city and nationwide leadership and field-building efforts that seek to build a coalition of aligned support on these issues across nonprofit, philanthropic, corporate, and government sectors, in order to increase support and funding for the sector in Chicago, and improve best practices in the state and nationwide.

About the Position
The Gun Violence Prevention Program Analyst will provide programmatic, team, and grants administration support, and will conduct research and analysis to support grantmaking, fundraising, and community engagement processes. The ideal candidate will have a clear commitment to social justice efforts and a background in one or more of the Gun Violence Prevention dynamic solutions.

The Analyst reports to the Gun Violence Prevention Program Director and works closely with both the Director and Senior Program Analyst. The entire team works closely with trustees through the Gun Violence Prevention Committee structure to execute the Foundation's Gun Violence Prevention portfolio.

  • Review grantee progress reports and work with relevant Program staff to determine if grant requirements have been met; support development of and utilize a data dashboard to address the team's needs
  • Coordinate or support coordination of meeting planning, site visits, and other learning opportunities to increase family engagement within the Gun Violence Prevention program area
  • Attend and provide administrative support for Gun Violence Prevention program grantmaking and strategy meetings

  • Track, report, and coordinate the Foundation's, family's, and partners' fundraising efforts for Gun Violence Prevention initiatives

Grantmaking analysis

  • Support Gun Violence Prevention Program Director and Senior Program Analyst in
