Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Tutor and assist students in academic achievement by meeting with them individually or in small groups.
- Possess the knowledge and expertise in a broad range of nursing concepts to help students better understand topics in class, clinical and lab and assist with course-related equipment and supplies.
- Engage students in a variety of formats to impact learning.
- Possess the knowledge and expertise in a broad range of nursing concepts related to evidence-based practice, community and public health, and leadership and management that will support BSN students in their learning and education.
- Understand and use computers and have the ability to use software to hold tutoring sessions on line.
- Possess the ability to use a variety of software packages that are used by students within the program.
- Possess solid writing abilities and the ability to work with students to help them formulate and organize thoughts for papers.
- Possess the ability to instruct students on how to properly use the APA method for writing.
- Maintain records of students tutored, assure confidentiality and adherence to FERPA regulations.
- Provide advising for registered nursing students and assist with recruitment during non-tutoring periods.
Supplemental Functions: - Perform all duties to maintain the college’s policies and procedures, Core Values, grant reporting requirements and other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Occasional physical effort required.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Nursing or a bachelor's degree in Nursing with 18 graduate hours in Nursing is required.
Two (2) years of work experience in nursing is required.
Licenses and Certifications
Unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Texas or compact state or obtainable at time of hire is required.
