Arkansas State University- Newport invites applications for the Instructor of Radiologic Technology position. This is a 12-month faculty position on the Newport campus. The Instructor of Radiologic Technology will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students enrolled in the Radiologic Technology program, preparing them for successful careers in radiologic technology. The instructor will also contribute to curriculum development, student advising, and program accreditation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction:
  • Deliver engaging and effective classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in radiologic technology.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and techniques to accommodate different learning styles and ensure student comprehension.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, assignments, and assessments aligned with program objectives and certification standards.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of radiologic technology advancements and integrate relevant updates into the curriculum.
Curriculum Development:
  • Collaborate with Dean to continuously review and enhance the radiologic technology curriculum.
  • Participate in the development and revision of course materials, syllabi, and instructional resources.
  • Ensure curriculum meets certification standards and prepares students for certification exams and professional practice.
Student Advising and Support:
  • Provide academic advising and career guidance to students.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, offering constructive feedback and support to facilitate academic success.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and retention.
Clinical Coordination:
  • Assist in coordinating clinical placements and ensure students gain practical, hands-on experience.
  • Supervise students during clinical rotations, ensuring compliance with clinical site policies and radiologic technology best practices.
  • Liaise with clinical site personnel to maintain strong partnerships and ensure high-quality clinical education.
Program Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with certification standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in program assessment and evaluation activities to maintain high educational standards.
Professional Development:
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current in the field of radiologic technology.
  • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance instructional skills and program quality.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in radiologic technology.
  • Prior teaching experience in a radiologic technology program or related healthcare education setting is highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create an engaging and effective learning environment.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

When an individual accepts a teaching appointment at the college, he or she also accepts responsibilities and obligations as a professional educator. Under the supervision of the Division Dean, the faculty has as their chief duty the instruction of assigned classes. These duties take precedence over all others. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty should assume responsibility for professional development, service to the college, and other duties as assigned by their supervisors. They are also obligated to abide by and support college policies. Faculty must be committed to the learning college philosophy as well as the goals and objectives of the university.

Each semester's instructional load will be assigned by the faculty member's supervisor, which will be determined by the nature of the position, the needs of the department, and workload guidelines established by college policy. Evening, weekend, as well as on-line instruction may be required.

Development of and participation in special college projects, development of new instructional techniques, development of an assessment plan in the discipline, student advising, and participation in other college and community service activities consistent with the mission of the college.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT
Shares responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the laboratory facilities.
