Position Summary:

The UNC-NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a full-time, research scholar to lead and contribute to research involving ultrasound and neuroscience. The position will have an academic appointment in Biomedical Engineering and work closely with co-mentors from the UNC Neuroscience Center. These projects will involve project organization and leadership, report, grant, and paper writing, experimental design, experimental data acquisition, data analysis, and preclinical and clinical testing. This position will serve as a senior leader for a team of students and trainees.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

The successful candidate must have excellent team working and communications skills and be creative, highly motivated, and able to work independently, with a desire to and relevant experience for data acquisition, data analysis, and writing. A strong background in neuroscience is required. The position affords the opportunity to mentor graduate students and undergraduate/professional students in translational research, contribute to the teaching mission of the Research Lab and develop collaborative research programs. The candidate must have the interest in and ability to collaborate with other researchers and must be willing to proactively write and publish manuscripts and plan and write grant applications. Candidates must have experience with and willingness to conduct pre-clinical research.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Desired experimental experience includes Neuropixel, histology, MATLAB, confocal microscopy, statistical analysis.
