Paramedic-Emergency Dept, FullTime Nights - PiedmontMacon
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The Paramedic, under the supervision of theProfessional Registered Nurse and/or Physician is responsible forfacilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitivecare, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and theirfamilies, collecting information, communicating effectively, andutilizing technology. The Paramedic participates in the assessment,planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of healthcare services and task. The role of the Paramedic Nurse Extenderalso, includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement,and the oversight of unlicensedpersonnel.
KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must have a workingknowledge of intramuscular, sublingual, oral, rectal, nebulizers,intravenous, and intravenous push medications-effect, side effects,drug to drug interaction and anaphylaxis protocol. Workingknowledge of venous blood sampling, and cardiac monitorknowledge.
2. Working knowledge of the bodys systems toinclude neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal,primary and secondary trauma assessment.
3. Must havestrong customer service, interpersonal skills and be able to workwith a team. Responsible for providing safe patient care with anunderstanding and awareness of age
appropriate andculturally aware needs. Able to assess a patient's needs andrespond to direction by the Professional Registered Nurse andPhysician.
4. Perform EKG'S
5. Perform Foleycatheters
6. Start IV'S, IO'S & drawblood.
7. Transport patients to otherdepartments.
8. May be required to monitor patients forarrhythmias and report abnormal rhythms and changes immediately toCharge Nurse and Nurse

Skill and ability to handlemultiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work as amember of a team.
Skill and ability in Microsoft Officeapplications
Qualifications:
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:
High school graduate orequivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
None
MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Currentcertification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia required,National Registry preferred
ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:
BLS. Must be ACLS certified, orbe able to become certified immediately.
