Overview

Job Summary: Assists patients in scheduling appointments in an ambulatory clinical setting. Provides courteous phone assistance and ensures accurate messaging. Requires strong customer service skills and telephone etiquette.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with one year of office or clerical experience in customer service. Experience in a fast-paced environment with phone and electronic messaging required. Knowledge of medical terminology and fluency in Spanish preferred.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Must pass a departmental data entry test.

Essential Functions:

  1. Schedules, updates, and cancels appointments using computer programs.
  2. Ensures completeness and accuracy of registration data following departmental policies.
  3. Collaborates with co-workers to meet departmental goals.
  4. Screens calls, delivers messages, and documents scheduling information accurately.
  5. Assists with patient care documentation and maintains knowledge of insurance requirements.
  6. Participates in improving customer service methods and problem-solving.
  7. Acts as a liaison between patients, medical staff, and outside agencies.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Maintains positive attitude in demanding situations
  • Builds professional relationships with patients, physicians, and colleagues

Physical Requirements:
