The Optum Financial Consumer CFO is accountable for the financial management of the consumer P&L. Optum Financial is a fast-paced, high growth, exciting organization. This is a go-to position that supports strategic initiatives, delivers executive reporting and provides insight for key business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees financial and accounting functions for the Consumer P&L of approx. $300M in IOI
  • Plays a key role in the overall corporate strategy with the CEO and executive management team participating in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic vision, initiatives, and financial models that align with company's plan for growth and expansion including potential acquisition and due diligence associated with potential acquisitions
  • Serve as a visible and active leader in all aspects of the organization including sales, broker compensation, medical management and benefit costs, and admin costs using analytics to drive decisions in all areas of the organization
  • Perform financial impact analysis of marketing agreements, broker contracts, and due diligence of acquisitions
  • Plays key role in integration strategy of acquisitions and drives synergies
  • Provide financial direction in support of short and long-term goals; formulating and executing strategy and critical outcomes while driving a culture of accountability in managing the business
  • Direct all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the company including financial analysis financial planning, and reporting
  • Oversee development of annual operating budgets, regular forecasts and cash flow projections for the companies including overall responsibility for actuarial predictive modeling
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports analyzing current month results and future projections
  • Oversee and review Capital planning
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, financial procedures, and compliance with the rules for financial reporting and internal and external audits
  • Manage and develop a well-qualified team providing leadership, mentoring, and guidance on day-to-day operations and their short-term and long-term career plans

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 10+ years of relevant financial and operational experience
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • 3+ years of Healthcare Insurance experience
  • Proven experience driving business performance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or MBA
  • Exceptional financial acumen
  • Ability to anticipate accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and operational issues, assess their implications, determine their impact and develop and implement an appropriate action plan
  • Proven interpersonal skills, along with the ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the company
  • Proven work ethic and devotion to performance
  • Strategic thinker, excellent analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
