Position Overview:

As a Diesel Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing Class 8 trucks and trailers, ensuring all work complies with Beacon Recycling's safety standards and federal and state regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains expert knowledge of, and advanced working proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems:
  •    Chassis component repair and maintenance
  •    Multiple and steerable lift axels
  •    PTO components
  •    USDOT inspections
  •    Refuse bodies, including air and electric controls
  •    Air and hydraulic braking systems
  •    Engine repair and after treatment maintenance
  •    Suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems
  •    Heating and air conditioning systems
  • Occasional yard equipment service and repair
  • Assist in coordinating daily ship operations and ensuring timely completion of repair tasks
  • Performs computer repair diagnostics to determine root cause of issue
  • Identifies the source of malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools
  • Work effectively with team members at all levels of the company as a positive, professional example
  • Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner consistent with our mission statement
  • Roadside repair and maintenance utilizing a company service truck
  • Occasional weekend needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Trade school or diesel industry education
  • State mechanic certifications

Work Experience

  • 3+ years in maintenance, preferred shop environment
  • Supervisory/Management experience is highly desirable, with potential leadership opportunities within our team as we expand

Skills and Knowledge

  • Valid CDL license is a plus
  • Fabrication experience is a plus
  • Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written procedures, container labels, and all safety precautions
  • Electronics and computer skills needed
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable attendance
  • Valid Driver's license

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Work is typically carried out from 7am to 5pm.
