Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Call schedule for overnight and weekend coverage is shared amongst physicians

The preferred Physician (Chief of Cardiology) will have board eligibility/certification; credentials sufficient for academic appointment to the University of Kansas, Department of Medicine; qualify for a faculty appointment at University of Kansas School of Medicine at the rank of Associate or Full Professor of Medicine; and possess leadership and administrative experience sufficient to lead the Cardiology Division.

As the Chief of Cardiology, you will be expected to provide comprehensive Cardiology services to Veterans, along with supervisory oversight to the Cardiology Section.

Candidates should have clinical expertise in non-invasive and/or interventional Cardiology fields with the former, including experience supervising, conducting, and interpreting certain Cardiology procedures such as stress tests, trans-thoracic or trans-esophageal echocardiograms, or electrocardiograms. Alternatively, the candidate may have interventional cardiology as the major clinical activity. You will diagnose, treat, and manage patients with cardiac diseases according to standard, usual, and acceptable methods and techniques. You will provide services such as examinations, consultation services related to cardiology, management of patients with current treatment regiment, and admission status as necessary.

You will attend cardiology team meetings, Medicine Service meetings, and meetings with other medical center staff. You may be asked to serve on committees, participate in quality assurance programs, assist our facility in meeting established performance measures in the area of cardiology, and such other duties as required.

As we are a training institution, part of your responsibility would be training and evaluation of cardiology fellows and internal medicine residents and medical students. Also, the supervision of APRNs.

This also includes servicing veterans not only at the parent hospital but also evaluating cardiology patients at outpatient clinics.
