Scope of Position:
Produces written proposal based on project specifications and design drawings; contacts customers and close sales; and assists Project Management staff through project completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Uses search engine and relationships to find projects to bid.
- Assists Architect/Specifier when requested.
- Analyzes specifications and drawings to develop project scopes and products to be estimated.
- Prepares designer RFI submittals.
- Prepares vendor/RFP suppliers information for requested proposal.
- Obatins quotes from vendors for outsourced materials.
- Produces designs for project needs for custom products.
- Determines proper system/member size for metal.
- Extrapolates product quantities information for development of pricing/bid.
- Consults with in-house team for product or project feasibility when needed.
- Calculates accurate material requirements.
- Prepares estimates for metal panel products and custom/other architectural metal products.
- Coordinates with Sales Representative when needed.
- Prepares Scope Letter and Sales Proposal.
- Asks the customer for the order.
- Gathers information for Project Management Department and staff.
- Transfers product/project information at Kick-off Meetings.
- Assists drafting department with intent and problem solving.
- Checks approval drawings to confirm project scope accuracy.
- Assists with pricing change orders.
- Attends product trade shows.
- Performs other similar or related duties as required or requested.
Position Requirements:
The Estimator must possess the minimum knowledge listed below:
- Associate degree in Architectural, Engineering or related field from a two-year college, university or technical/trade school.
- Four or more years related Industry experience.
- Ability to use computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project, and AutoCAD (2D/3D).
