The major duties of the Maintenance Worker Supervisor include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the Buildings and Utilities, Roads and Trails, Fleet Management and Repair Branch at the park. Develops and manages a 5 Year Project Management program for the Branch. Manages the budget for the Branch.
Responsible for contracted maintenance and repair operations for the Branch, accomplished through acting as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or Administrative Technical Representative (ATR) or supervision of other CORs. Conducts comprehensive condition assessments of all park facilities and conducts preliminary investigations to determine the feasibility and validity of new projects, analyzes conditions of existing facilities, structures, utilities, roads, bridges, and trails, and makes recommendations.
Works with Resource Division to ensure all natural and cultural resource compliance for planned work that is not routine or operational in scope is completed before work begins. Assures that all necessary National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) and National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) compliance is complete prior to beginning projects.
The incumbent is responsible for the on-the-job safety and health of all employees supervised. Ensures that employees maintain compliance with safety training requirements and certifications; holds safety toolbox meetings with crews; ensures accountability of employees working in remote locations; ensures employees adhere to and comply with park and NPS policies and directions; ensures equipment is maintained in a safe condition; and appropriate and required personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided, used, and maintained in a safe condition.
Performs the full range of supervisory duties and performs overall work planning, establishes work priorities, and assigns and reviews work. Develops position descriptions, job analyses, and classification and recruitment documentation for input into USA Staffing.
