Salary:

PLNU pays its faculty using a payscale based on experience and academic rank. Faculty starting salaries using this scale for a 3-semester appointment range from $83,483 to $113,970. The actual salary will be based on the experience, rank, and appointment term of the candidate selected to fill this position.

The Department of Kinesiology within the College of Health Sciences is seeking candidates for a full-time tenure-track teaching position in our Kinesiology Master of Science programs. The University is seeking an individual capable of excellent teaching, committed to significant involvement with students both within and outside of the classroom, and interested in participating in the graduate research programs.

Responsibilities:

Teach primarily graduate strength and conditioning, biomechanics, sport science and/or clinical exercise physiology courses (preference for multiple areas of expertise)

Mentor graduate students research projects (Thesis, Capstone)

Coordinate internships in strength and conditioning/sport science

Advise students academically, spiritually, and socially

Engage in personal scholarship and scholarship with graduate students

Prepare students for their post graduate career and to find who they are called to be

Successful candidates will work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, parents and community members.

Participate in departmental activities and governance

Serve on university faculty committees/working groups and other normal faculty duties

Participate in the development, assessment, and revision of the didactic and clinical curricula

Potentially teach undergraduate kinesiology lecture and lab courses

Qualifications:

Education: Ph.D./Terminal degree in Kinesiology or a related field (ABD will be considered)

Experience: Evidence of a commitment to excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.

Philosophical: Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university. Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.

Personal: Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, faculty agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.

Strong potential for scholarship and service to the Kinesiology disciplines

Credentialed as an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS)

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience

Demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service (experience guiding student-led research, particularly emphasizing evidence-based best practices)

Credentialed as an NSCA Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS)
