Job Summary
We are seeking an Executive Director for an Healthcare Transformation Fund on J.P. Morgan's platform. The primary responsibility of this Executive Director is to conduct due diligence, aid in transaction structuring, assist with internal investment approval process, and actively monitor investments. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the healthcare sector (including biotechnology, medical technology, life science tools, diagnostics, health technology and other related subsectors)and be able to understand, interpret, and integrate information from diverse healthcare areas in order to reach investment conclusions. It will also be critically important for candidates to understand business principles and market dynamics in the technology, tools, diagnostics, drug and medical device sectors.
Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with target companies, entrepreneurs, industry executives, and investment professionals
  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence on prospective investments
  • Develop investment theses
  • Attend company management meetings and investment/device/technology/medical conferences
  • Run due diligence calls with healthcare management teams, third parties and other consultants independently
  • Conduct company screens in various life science, medical device, healthcare IT, and other HC areas using proprietary databases
  • Build and maintain company financial models and detailed market models for products/diseases
  • Gather information using various data sources, including the Web, healthcare literature and consultants to the firm.
  • Ongoing monitoring and support of portfolio companies
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze, with the purpose of forming independent investment judgments
  • Assist in board-level management of portfolio companies; attend board meetings as an observer in select cases, and work on projects to build portfolio company value
  • Participate in and support the investment process from opportunity identification through due diligence and deal closing


Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier university
  • healthcare degree from a top-tier university
  • 2+ years of professional experience with a top-tier healthcare focused team at a leading investment bank or consulting firm or a biotechnology or medical device company.
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented personality with ability to multi-task in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong financial modeling skills
  • Demonstrable ability to review and articulate investments
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Demonstrable passion for investing, and medical related innovation
  • Significant experience with PowerPoint
  • Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated; candidates should be team players who enjoy working in a non-hierarchical, collaborative firm culture.


Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Ideally degree is in medical related fields
  • Preferably in areas of business development or M&A
