Our client is looking for a Mechatronics Engineer to work on their product in the Automotive/robotics space. This is a full-time role in Waltham, MA.

Experience:

Proficient in designing mechatronic systems, particularly in robotics and industrial automation. Skilled in integrating firmware, sensors, and motors, with expertise in motor control algorithms. Familiarity with mechanical and electrical design, as well as programming PLCs for industrial control systems.

Responsibilities:

Designing and developing robotic systems, encompassing both hardware and software elements. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement and merge robotics and automation solutions. Conducting thorough testing and debugging of robotic systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Requirements:

Direct experience in robotics or automation is essential. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotic Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in the robotics or automation industry.

Skills:

Writing firmware for motor control, PID tuning, and sensor acquisition. Solid grasp of robotics principles and concepts. Proficiency in working with various sensor systems while maintaining signal integrity. Competency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java. Familiarity with robotics frameworks and software tools like ROS and MATLAB. Understanding of network and communication interfaces such as IoT Gateways, Ethernet/IP, Ether CAT, CAN, and/or Modbus TCP. Knowledge of common safety circuits and safety system requirements in automation and industrial applications. Ability to create schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams to explain timing and cycle time aspects of mechanical designs. Experience with complex dynamic simulation software or real-time control software. Exposure to industrial automation systems, including PLCs and various programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, function block diagram, structured text). Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
