The Cardiac Catheterization Lab Assistant Nurse Manager provides care for the Veteran in the Cardiac Catheterization Suite. The ANM - Cardiac Cath Lab provides direct patient care to the patients undergoing diagnostic, interventional, coronary, peripheral, and electrophysiology studies The incumbent communicates with the physician on an ongoing basis about the patient`s condition and medication for the procedure. The ANM primarily is responsible for Cath Lab daily functioning, but also serves as an element lead for the entire Heart, Lung, Vascular Clinic.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Consistently assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory.
Assesses procedures rooms for equipment functioning and readiness prior to procedures.
Obtains supplies for individual cases and assures all appropriate needs of the patient care team are met.
Hemodynamically monitors, positions and assists patients during procedures.
Performing the Charge Nurse role, admitting patients, completing patient assessments, leading treatment team, administering medications, leading Codes and Rapid Responses, and completing and updating treatment plans.
In conjunction with the Nurse Manager/Flight Commander (DGMC), the ANM coordinates unit schedules ensuring staffing coverage and assumes responsibility and accountability for the day to day operation and patient flow of the Cath lab.
Also responsible for contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidenced-based nursing standards of practice.
Provides support to the Cath lab by identifying discipline-specific education needs and then implements educational trainings that foster professional development.
