What You Need to Know

Regional Clinical Support Director Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day clinical support and assistance to the agency DPCS. Ensure clinical care and support business functions are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. Review all potential NTUC (Not Taken Under Care) cases and declined reauthorization requests. Ensure plans of treatment are reviewed and assessed for appropriateness of clinical content, frequency, goals, and referrals to other disciplines.
  • Review wound score deviations as needed. Review and provide appropriate follow-up on client complaints, occurrences, infections, and medication errors. Review client complaints, occurrences, infections, and medication errors monthly to identify trends. Review clinical exception notes for appropriateness. Review weekly schedules and ensures productivity standards are met.
  • Ensure effective weekly case conferences are conducted and that Recert/Discharge decisions are appropriate. Perform nursing visits as needed. Serve as a resource for clinical staff. Notify staff of changes to policy and procedure. Participate in the agency's' emergency preparedness plan in conjunction with the Safety-First Program. Monitor SHP alerts processing and results, trends clinical and client data. Ensure that an adequate number of qualified clinical personnel are available to carry out patient visits. Ensure that new DPCS's and clinical employees receive a formal orientation. Ensure that staff supervision and evaluation occur and assist clinicians to perform with maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure that quality improvement, risk management and compliance activities are being carried out.
  • Demonstrate competencies in interactions with surveyors, payment auditors, and regulatory agencies. Perform regular site audits and other duties as assigned. Provide for public relations with the community-at-large, as well as organizations and individuals involved in the healthcare field. Ensure the accuracy of public information materials and activities. Interact effectively with corporate staff, managers, employees, clients, professional colleagues, and vendors. Comply with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including, but not limited to the Compliance Program: Code of Conduct, HIPAA and Documentation Standards.
  • Provide leadership and support for the compliance process within management area. Participate in required orientation and periodic retraining related to the Compliance Program: Code of Conduct, Documentation Standards and HIPAA. Report concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance using the AccentCare Reporting Process. Distribute compliance-related materials within management area. Ensure timely and accurate reporting and responses to compliance-related issues and monitor the implementation of corrective action plans related to such issues. Ensure that staff participate in orientation and training programs including but not limited to all required compliance and HIPAA courses and relevant policies and procedures, and that such training is properly documented.
  • Provide open lines of communication regarding compliance issues within management area including access to the compliance hotline, ensure there is no retaliation against staff who report suspected incidences of non-compliance. Participate in monitoring and auditing activities and investigations, and implementing quality improvement processes, as required. Complete performance reviews and determine compensation and promotions based on the accomplishment of established standards that promote adherence to compliance and quality standards. Prepare compliance reports, as required.

Qualifications

Regional Clinical Support Director Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferred, in nursing or other health related field
  • Registered nurse with current licensure to practice nursing in the state
  • Minimum three years' experience, within the last five years, in a home health agency with at least one year of which was in a supervisory or administrative role
  • Current CPR certification. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured and in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order
