As a CoStar Technical Manager on the Platform Development team you will play a key role in expanding the data platform that supports all of CoStar Group’s largest brands including, Homes.com, CoStar Suite, LoopNet and Apartments.com . You will deeply understand what drives the business for which you are building software. We firmly believe that what separates a good developer from a great one is a deep understanding of the business that they are supporting. This position is located in Washington, D.C. and offers a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 days remote. Responsibilities- Lead an Agile software development team (approximately 5-7 people); Lead Scrum ceremonies; Deliver done-done features to customers at high velocity.
- Act as a player-coach, who can mentor & coach team members into highly productive team players.
- Promote can-do attitude, engineering mindset and collaboration as fundamental team values.
- Influence web application architecture and CI/CD pipeline improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement by focusing on engineering excellence
- Translate business requirements into technical requirements, develop project plan and work schedules for use by scrum development team
- Successfully implement software development projects to specification and within scheduled timelines and budget parameters
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Agile teams to deliver large initiatives; Develop roadmap
- Work with recruiting to identify, hire and onboard top industry talent
- Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the CRE Industry and CoStar’s business model / technology
- Continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends and best practices that can be used to strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practices
- Adopt an owner-operator mindset and demonstrate full ownership of the product and technical platforms.
- Act as "Voice of the Customer" when participating in product readiness reviews
- Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college.
- A track record of commitment to prior employers
- 7+ years of relevant development experience
- 3+ years’ experience in modern web and database technologies
- 3+ years’ experience building large distributed, API-driven systems
- 3+ years of experience leading Agile Team(s)
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of Object Oriented Programming and design patterns
- Solid experience with the following technologies; C#, .NET Core, and SQL Server
- Experience leading technical teams, working through complex requirements and offering relevant, timely technical solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to communicate at a level appropriate to the audience (direct reports, peers and senior management)
- Excellent team building, negotiation and consensus building abilities
- Ability to motivate and build high performance software development teams
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React and Vue is desired.
- Experience with the AWS platform
- Experience with non-relational databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB or ElasticSearch
- Experience with relational databases (preferably SQL Server)
- Experience with Docker and container orchestration
- Commercial Real Estate (CRE) knowledge is a bonus
