The University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia is seeking an accomplished academic anesthesiologist with interest and expertise in Critical Care Anesthesia to join our team.
Responsibilities
• Participating in team-based anesthesia care and personally providing anesthesia care
• Serving as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating for effective patient outcomes
• Active participation in the academic activities of the Department and College of Medicine
• Supervising students, residents, fellows, SRNA’s and non-anesthesia rotators
• Providing developmental feedback to those under supervision, verbally and in writing
• Preparing educational materials, leading and/or attending academic lectures and professional development events
• Demonstrated experience in promoting an inclusive team-based work environment
• Research activities are encouraged, though participation is not required for continued employment or promotion
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.
Education Requirement:
• Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved residency program in anesthesiology.
• Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
Required Qualifications:
• Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Iowa.
• Candidates must be certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists or the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology or be in the certification process. On occasion, individuals trained outside of the United States who are certified by an equivalent national certification group may be considered.
Certifications:
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
Desirable Qualifications:
• Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience in the area of critical care anesthesia
• Demonstrated experience promoting an inclusive culture in the workforce and academic environment
• Interest in teaching and/or basic or clinical research.
