A Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various systems and equipment within a facility. They perform routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary repairs to ensure the facility and equipment is operating efficiently and safely. Additionally, they will assist with the installation of new equipment, coordinate with external contractors, and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed for maintenance tasks. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential for this role. This position does not allow for sponsorship or relocation assistance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Learn Powell's equipment and facility
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues in the following areas: machine controls, pump systems, motor systems, etc. using testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in voltage control circuits and systems using basic circuit design knowledge and testing equipment.
  • Maintain and improve preventative maintenance program
  • Perform in-house service requests in a timely manner
  • Operate heavy machinery: skyjacks, forklifts, boom lifts, threading machines, saws, etc.
  • Perform basic weld, fabrication, drywall, painting, plumbing, conduit, and HVAC repairs
  • Manage shop waste streams- monitor and ship out shop waste as required
  • Test security and fire system operations
  • Maintain parking lots and walkways
  • Read, write, and understand ladder logic
  • Adhere to all company policies and OSHA rules.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma
  • 2-4 years' experience in a facilities maintenance group

Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements

  • Ability to use shop equipment: such as sanders, drill press, forklift, and scissor lift
  • Ability to perform new electrical installation for industrial equipment and repair existing electrical in an industrial setting
  • Ability to work safely by following policies and procedures in an industrial environment
  • Effective communications skills are required; Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Able to work alone and in a team environment

Working Conditions

Temperature controlled warehouse and manufacturing plant, outside activities are required will be exposed to hot & cold weather climate conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time, up to an entire shift
  • Ability to bend and lift heavy materials 50 lb max. repeatedly throughout a single workday
  • Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm
