New York NY, United States Good Inside Full time

The Opportunity

Good Inside is looking for a strategically-minded, exceptionally organized Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) to join our team. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. As an MLE, you will be responsible for building our recommendation engine, delivering a one-of-a-kind hyper-personalized user experience fueled by state-of-the-art ML technologies. This is a hybrid role in Manhattan with three days a week onsite.

A Great Candidate…

  • Is excited about Good Inside's mission and is passionate about improving the lives of parents and children
  • Has a bias toward action, values experimentation, and is more interested in finding the right answer than being right
  • Values truthful, direct feedback, even when it can feel uncomfortable
  • Is a driven self-starter; you don’t wait to be told what to do but rather look around, spot problems and opportunities, and share ideas you’ve brainstormed
  • Is flexible and capable of doing many things (versus just one thing); our most successful employees wear multiple hats and are willing to take on a wide scope of responsibilities

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Join our ML team to design, develop, deploy and maintain our AI-powered services, with a primary focus on our recommendation service grounded in modern machine learning principles.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology in ML/AI (Classical, Deep Learning, Generative AI - LLMs) and apply this knowledge to tackle complex problems in innovative ways.
  • Act as a resource for other engineers, as well as product managers, regarding all things ML/AI.
  • Collaborate with frontend & backend engineers on how to best serve data.
  • Documenting best practices, architectural choices, and processes related to software engineering and machine learning.

What We’re Looking For in You

  • You have a bachelor or masters in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • You have 1 to 3 years of coding experience in Python, as well as familiarity with frameworks including but not limited to Flask, Node.js, FastAPI.
  • You have a strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals and deep learning frameworks/tools such as TensorFlow/PyTorch, OpenAI/Huggingface, LangChain, etc.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels within the organization
  • You have exceptional attention to detail and project management skills and experience with tooling like Jira and Notion

What We Offer

  • Compensation transparency range of $140,000 to $160,000 annually and company equity
  • Generous benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability & Life Insurance
  • 3 weeks PTO, Sick Leave, 13 paid holidays
  • 2 “Quiet Weeks” per year, Self Care Fridays monthly during the Fall, Winter, and Spring, and Summer Fridays every Friday in the Summer
  • Flexible hybrid work environment with 3 days a week in-office at our Bryant Park location
  • A team committed to empowering parents in order to change the way this generation of children are raised.
  • A culture that balances hard work, self care, and open and honest communication - we live the Good Inside principles in our workplace from how we lead the company, to how we support employees personal growth, to how we always see the good inside each other.
