About the Role:
This 24 bed ICU/CCU provides comprehensive care to medical/surgical/neurological/ patients requiring intense monitoring and nursing care. The scope of care includes the nursing management of patients: (1) who experience the acute onset of any disease affecting any organ system, (2) who are at risk of developing life-threatening complications as a result of their acute disease state or injury, and (3) who suffer exacerbations of chronic disease states. Patient care in the ICU/CCU includes early detection and prevention of complications, management of complex physiological problems, patient/family education, and family psychosocial support. The Critical Care is (4) also responsible for providing care for patients who need cardiac care or intervention. Hemodynamic monitoring provides comprehensive care to cardiac patients requiring intense monitoring and nursing care. Patient care for cardiac patients includes early detection and prevention of complications, management of complex physiological problems, patient/family education, and family psychosocial support. The unit provides care for patients with, but not limited to:
  • STEMI and non -STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction)
  • Heart Failure
  • CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
  • Existing LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) implant
  • IABP (Intra- Aortic Balloon Pump)
  • Advanced ventilator management needs
  • Continuous vasoactive drug therapy
  • Cardiogenic shock
Care is also provided for patients who are unstable after cardiac interventions or have experienced cardiac arrest.
Job Summary
Capable clinician with previous specialty experience preferred, focused on expanding knowledge and skills. Consistently provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. Seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Assumes a beginning clinical bedside leadership role and seeks mentoring in this process. Participates as a member on PNGC councils and Nursing Quality Teams as appropriate. Actively participates on Unit Council helping with plans to improve NDNQI nursing sensitive indicators, RN Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Culture of Safety, and Patient Experience data. Works together with other care team members to recruit and retain an excellent nursing care team. For the new graduate clinical RN: focuses primarily on developing knowledge and skills and showing growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients. Responsible for providing direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process, and for coordinating care for assigned patients on a shift to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes. Requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and accepts feedback as a constructive professional development tool.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
