Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital (HDVCH) offers an excellent opportunity for a full-time BC/BE Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to lead in the role of Section Chief. Reporting to the system division chief of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health, the section chief leads psychiatrists and APPs in their inpatient and outpatient roles. As section chief, you would maintain a clinical practice and have dedicated time to lead your team, partner with the operational manager, and collaborate with section chef of pediatric psychology. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience and has practiced within a children's hospital system.

The growing HDVCH multidisciplinary team includes child psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, pediatric psychologists, and behavioral medicine physicians among others. Our large patient population is served through consult-liaison services, outpatient consult bridge clinic, outpatient practice, and our autism center of excellence. A 12-bed med psych unit is slated to open in 2024.

We offer 90-minute evaluations and 30-minute outpatient follow ups with comprehensive psychology, psychotherapy and nursing support for your practice. Our position can support a H1b visa candidate.

Development of People In collaboration with the Department and Division Chief, develop and implement a plan for physician leadership development Implement a formal periodic performance evaluation of the sections professional staff In collaboration with the Finance Committee of the Board and its subcommittees, and with the Department and Division Chiefs, ensure equitable annual compensation of section members in their fulfillment of the clinical, administrative, teaching and research missions Collaborate with the Department Chief and Academic Chair in the management of physician and APP performance to ensure individual physician productivity, clinical quality, positive patient perception, appropriate resource utilization, adherence to the groups ethical and legal standards, appropriate relationship with colleagues and staff, and (as appropriate) involvement in teaching and research activities.
Patient Service and Perception of Care Ensure the section adopt robust measurements of patients perception of care and services, in alignment with the Medical Group, and that the section achieves annual performance goals for patients perception of care
Finance In collaboration with the Board and the executive team, establish the five year forecast, and annual plan of financial performance goals of the section. In collaboration with the Finance Committee, ensure optimum management of compliance and risk for all section members.
Academic and Faculty Affairs If requested by the Academic Chair of the Department, Ensures an appropriate clinical learning environment for the training of medical students, residents, or fellows Participates in, or supports the participation of the sections professional staff in, faculty development programs of the Department or the MSU College of Human Medicine.
